Glynnis Reed of Egg Harbor Township brings her photographs and mixed media collages to the Ocean City Arts Center Sept. 3 to Sept. 30.

A "Meet the Artist" reception, free and open to the public, will be held 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.

Reed's exhibit, "From the Earth to the Skies," features natural settings as the backdrop to figures.

"I explore identity and place and the complexities of one's relationship with the self and with others, I continue to examine how gender, race, sexuality, and power figure into people's experiences within narratives of love and loss, fulfillment and emptiness, shadow and light, often with figures caught in emotional ambivalence," Reed said.

Reed is a native of Los Angeles, Calif. and is an art teacher in the Atlantic City School system.

"We are happy to host Ms. Reed's unique exhibit," Ocean City Arts Center Executive Director Rosalyn Lifshin said. "Her work has been featured at many fine venues including the Noyes Museum of Art, Oceanville, NJ., Museum of African Diaspora, San Franciso, and Craft and Folk Art Museum, Los Angeles."
