Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, there will be an artist’s reception with light refreshments to celebrate the Grand Opening of Glynnis Reed Studio, in conjunction with September’s Third Friday events throughout town.

That evening, there will also be a raffle for a piece of artwork by Glynnis Reed. The regular business hours for Glynnis Reed Studio are Thursday through Sunday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment.

Glynnis Reed Studio is the artist’s studio of visual artist Glynnis Reed, working in Photography, Painting, and Mixed Media Collage Art.

The studio is also a retail space for the sale of the artist’s work.

For over a decade, Glynnis Reed has been working with photography, painting, and mixed media art.

Her work has moved progressively from a search into the urban landscape and the city to the spaces where the urban meets nature at public parks then to explorations of natural environments that serve as meaningful sites for figures.

She explores issues of identity and place and the complexities of one’s relationship with the self and with others in intimate relationships within the contexts of the city and nature.

Originally from Los Angeles, Glynnis graduated with an MFA in Studio Art in 2003 from the University of California, Irvine and she now lives and works in South Jersey.

She has exhibited her work extensively at the local, national, and international levels and has recently had a solo exhibition of her photography and collages at the Kunstraum Arcade Gallery in Moedling, Austria.

Her work has been on view at the DePaul University Museum in the show “Double Exposure: African Americans Before and Behind the Camera,” which has traveled nationally.

The California galleries Glynnis has shown her work include the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco, Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles, the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery.

She has also been featured at the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Mich. and and the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts in Millville.

She was a 2011 Artist in Residence at AIR Krems in Krems, Austria.

Glynnis is also a 2009 recipient of the “Visions From the New California” award, which granted her a residency at Djerassi Resident Artists Program in Northern California.

She is featured in a June 2011 article on her work in “Morgen” art magazine, published in Austria. Glynnis was interviewed about her art by curator Lisa Henry in the Fall 2009 issue of “exposure: The Journal of the Society for Photographic Education.”
